conservation cabins
Over half of Australia is privately owned and these properties are home to nearly all our endangered wildlife.
Yet when you purchase your piece of land, there’s no stewardship contract and no responsibility to protect the wildlife calling it home.
But there are people out there. Legends leaving a legacy, taking on the role of land stewardship. Planting habitat, sequesting carbon, protecting the waterways, picking apart the colonised soil and letting the land breath. What for? Well, for you, for us, for our collective future where species populations bounce back and forests grow old.
Then there’s Ode; a couple of carpenters passionate about protecting the bush, building sustainably, re-thinking materials, and creating spaces that feel good.
So we thought we would find a way to link private conservation private properties, creating a network of landholders doing great work.
So we built a few off-grid mobile cabins, each located in a biodiversity oasis for you to enjoy, connecting you to the legends of the land conservation movement.
Designed in a way you’ll be drawn outside, you’ll learn the story of the Country you’re on and the species to look out for. You’ll find space to unwind and create room for thought, settling into the simple pleasures; the comfort of a cabin helping people do good.
Your booking fee is split between the landowner and us, helping the landowner continue carrying out their stewardship and helping us continue to build future cabins.
And because we are directly benefiting from colonisation, and the land we operate on is stolen, part of your booking fee is paying the rent to First Nations people.
So come on, treat yourself whilst supporting those taking conservation into their own hands. Be part the greater movement of protecting our landscapes and the cute animals that would rather their bushland home over an overgrazed cattle yard.
